Andrea Sheldon
Andrea Sheldon is a principal and consulting actuary with the Hartford, Connecticut office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 2004.
Experience
Andrea specializes in understanding the risks and financial drivers of healthcare benefits. She advises insurers, pharmacy benefit managers, employers, government entities, and faith-based organizations on medical, pharmacy, and dental benefits.
Andrea focuses on healthcare benefit pricing, valuation, experience analysis, and claim projections. She performs quantitative analyses of financial drivers and provides product development consulting on healthcare benefits programs.
Andrea has been actively involved with Medicare Part D since its inception. She supports Medicare Part D plan sponsors with strategic planning, benefit design, formulary design, pricing and bid submission of prescription drug products. She assists employers and pharmacy benefit managers with the design and pricing of Employer Group Waiver Plans (EGWPs), creditable coverage modeling, as well as Retiree Drug Subsidy attestations.
Andrea presents to the Society of Actuaries’ Medicare Subgroup on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ annual Advance Notice and Draft Call Letter. Andrea is the author of the Product Development chapter in the Group Insurance textbook. In addition, Andrea has coauthored articles published in Milliman’s Benefits Perspectives newsletter and Insight magazine.
