Waverly Wang is a consulting actuary with the Chicago office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 2016.
Experience
Waverly has seven years of experience providing actuarial support and consulting services to health plans and state Medicaid agencies. Her areas of expertise include developing Medicaid managed care capitation rates, assisting clients in the commercial market with pricing and filing efforts, and other general actuarial projections. Other insurance experience includes valuation of reserves, rate filing assistance, and annual actuarial certifications. Waverly has assisted in Medicaid managed care capitation rate development and actuarial certification for programs in Arkansas and Minnesota. These states serve a wide variety of populations and covered benefits. This work has also included analysis of managed care encounter and financial data, financial modeling, capitation rate development, and analysis of the financial impact of legislative changes on state Medicaid programs.
Managed Care Capitation Rate Development
- Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS): Acute care services for parents, pregnant women, children, foster care children, and the disabled. Acute care services for Basic Health Program for individuals with incomes up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Limit (FPL). Both programs administered by a combination of commercial MCOs and county-based purchasing organizations – 2016 to present.
- Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS): Acute and long-term care services for individuals with significant behavior health needs and / or developmental disabilities. Administered by “PASSEs” – partnerships between local provider organizations and commercial MCOs – 2018 to present.
